I was born in Texas and spent my early years riding quarter horses. I drew from an
early age, but was always interested in the human personality and understanding
people, so I put aside art to earn a degree in psychology.
I then earned my Masters and Doctorate degree in clinical psychology. I completed
my doctorate in 1982 and was licensed as a psychologist in the state of Oregon in
1984. I maintained a private practice until 1996, specializing in trauma survivors.
This intensive immersion into the nature of the human psyche deepened my interest
in art and symbolism, and I did Post-Doctoral training with a Jungian analyst in
Canada.
In 1996 I retired from practice to pursue my love of art. My formal art training has
been at Marylhurst University 2005 through 2010.
My primary teachers at Marylhurst have been Marlene Bauer (Laura Russo Gallery)
and Margaret Shirley (Elizabeth Leach Gallery).
