Copyright 2010 NW Oil Painters Guild have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. Drawing was a constant source of delight for me as a child, and subject for exploration in my teens. In my early twenties, I worked in the financial sector in New York, devoting myself completely to pursuits in the business world. When in my late twenties, a dear friend challenged me to reconnect with my artistic side. The experience was exhilarating. I began to sneak away from the office early, just to go to a local life drawing studio. I spent evenings and weekends drawing and studying the human form. My appreciation of art was also greatly enhanced by the world class art collections in New York. From New York, I moved to London, taking advantage of the rich culture there to continue my study of art. I studied with Michael Chaitow over a period of years concentrating on objective drawing skills and at the same time I began to work in a more intuitive way. I was able to travel extensively throughtout Europe and to benefit from exposure to the work of the masters. I was fortunate to be able to study landscape painting in France and to study portraiture while living in London. I began painting portraits by commission in 2002, while still residing in London. I am currently residing in Vancouver Washington where I work from my home studio.Biographic Details1973 Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Wisconsin 1975-76 Graduate study in Exceptional Education, University of Wisconsin, 1983-6 Weekend Life Drawing classes at Art Students League of New York 1989 to 95 Studied art in London with Michael Chaitow, student of Cecil Collins1992 Conducted life drawing sessions in Hampstead1993 Drawing course from Frederick Franck, author of Zen and the Art of Seeing1993-5 Studied life drawing and pastel painting in Tonbridge, Kent 1995 Drawing course from Frederick Franck, author of Zen and the Art of Seeing 1996 Studied pastel portraiture at Camden Arts Centre in London1993 to 1996 Participated in the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, Federation of British Artists1995 Studied landscape painting with David Bridges in Saint Robert, Correze, France 2000 to 2002 Studied watercolor, pastel and mixed media technique in Surrey, England MembershipsPortrait Society of America Northwest Oil Painters GuildMember - Board of Directors, Washington Society of BalletShows and exhibitions2004 Barnes and Noble, solo Exhibition of Portraits and Dance Paintings2005 Sixth Street Gallery, Exhibition of Figurative Work2009 Pomeroy House Summer Exhibition, receoved two Honorable MentionsPublished ArticlesThe Bucks County Writer, spring 2005 artwork featured on cover and throughout publicationDance Happenings, fall 2008, published by Dance Coalition of OregonA Dancer Deserves to be Painted, 2008 www.squidoo.com/balletpaintings"Pointe Shoe Paintings, 2008 www.squidoo.com/pointeshoepaintings"Don't Tell Me You Can't Draw a Straight Line!"www.squidoo.com/joyofdrawing
