Marianne Stokes Copyright 2010 NW Oil Painters Guild To My Gallery Sampling A   R   T   I   S   T ARTIST STATEMENT for Marianne Stokes Vancouver, Washington 360 574 2189 stokes13216@comcast.net I paint because I love to.  Time doesn't mean anything to me when I work.  Consequently I often spend inordinate times creating as I often redo and re-redo everything I have just done.  When I am finally finished, people frequently say it looks just like what I started out doing...so I could have saved a bunch of time by not redoing in the first place.  But I don't care...it has to be just right when I am done or I will keep on doing it.  Trouble is when I finally end, the next day I discover I am not really done after all. I have a very impressive bio...since I have been painting and creating from the beginning of time.  So I won't bore you with a long list of credits.  Suffice to say I have just about done it all in just about every medium and taught and teach everywhere.  I use to make some pretty big money in some other states doing some amazing things on scaffolds, outdoors, indoors, been on T.V., etc., etc. Now I do things mostly for me although do sell now and then.  Fortunately I don't have to depend on this to make my living as I would be in trouble, for sure.  I am not rich...but not poor, either.  Well, yes, I really am rich because I am able to be an artist, and because you are reading this.  Thanks for your time!
